Backyard Basket Making Workshop
Participants will leave with basic know-how to create a functional and interesting vessel, and hope which emerges when exposed to the abundant gifts of regenerative farm ecosystems. Learn how to collect, process and create using both common objects and some unique to our farm ecosystem.
Farms produce more than food and this informal, interactive workshop will provide you the opportunity to create using materials ranging from birch bark and kiwiberry vines to willow whips, grasses, red ozier dogwood and cattails.
You will deepen your knowledge of regenerative farming practices and create an original design basket for you to use, informed by demonstration, instruction, coaching and active experimentation! This is not an advanced crafting workshop, many fine options exist elsewhere for specific patterns and more refined basketry instruction. Instead this is an improv approach using basic fundamentals to weave a functional object you can fill with a berry harvest or other loot. Leave with new mates and a foundational skill upon which you can build.
You have to start somewhere! And if you are already well on your way, come anyway and show all what is possible.
