Farms Produce

More Than Food

Our farm combines ancient wisdom and leading edge learning to spiral towards, and arrive early in, the future where humans enhance rather than exploit ecosystems and balance returns.

Farming in ways that prioritize wellness and ecological health feels like both a luxury and a necessity.

We insist on growing food (and fiber, fuel, flavonoids and so much more), in ways that make our farm better able to grow food in the future. As shoppers and supporters of our farm, YOU nourish yourself and share gifts that serve our deepest human needs while forwarding the most hope-filled concept we know – regeneration.

You, the ewes, plants, monarch butterflies and farmers have the potential to help one another and our planet in this time of climate change, pollinator collapse and biodiversity loss. We look forward to connecting with you and learning about what social, cultural and ecological services you most appreciate and notice from farms like ours!

When we say, “Farms Produce More than Food” what do we mean?

Climate Resistance

Strong local food systems create climate resilience for all, when we hold water where it falls and ensure local food through drought, pandemics and other crises.

Farm-made Dog & Cat treats

Pelts, Gifts, Dog Treats

Supple and soft textured, Sheep fleeces are both luxurious and the simplest form of comfort that comes when our deepest needs are met. They are the farthest thing possible from fast fashion! And they make lovely gifts for infants, folks who are ill, or as a timeless embellishment of any decor.  Farmhouse Teas from our herbs & flowers relax and heal; pasture-raised dog and cat treats help us utilize and honor the whole animal.

Feeding the Soul

The phrase most often used is Community Supported Agriculture and farms certainly exist in community and we have felt so fortunate to start this farm in such a supportive and collaborative neighborhood and community. At the same time, it seems that we could also say it the other way, Agriculture Supported Community, highlighting the many ways in which local farms and local businesses give back to the community – from open space and environmental protection to local hiring, providing a community gathering spot and convenient products. Farms like ours offer non-traditional farm products like the Williams College Winter Study class we hosted for years, which impacted not only our farm but also contracted many neighbors to provide instruction and learning.

“Thank you for reminding me to love where I am in life. Whether this is a reflection of your deep appreciation for the things in front of you every day – the snap of a fresh greenbean, the first blush on the apple skins, the frustratingly charming barks of greeting from the dogs–or the physical grounding that comes from sticking one’s hands deep into the grasp of the soil and roots, I am not sure. All I know is that the joy and awe and sense of awareness I gained at the farm has stuck with me, like a lovely perfume. My life is better off for it. I am better off for it. Thank you.”

All farms produce so much more than food! But as our presentation for recent conferences asserts farm viability is precarious.

Thank you for supporting local, regenerative agriculture.
